Introducing The Firebirds

🔥Introducing the FIREBIRDS🔥

Girl’s hockey is getting a new look in the state of New Jersey! Phoenix is proud to announce our new youth teams: The Skylands Firebirds.

We have partnered up with Skylands Ice World in Stockholm, NJ to give more young ladies a place to play the sport they love while remaining in a fun, friendly and competitive environment. The Firebirds will be in direct association with the Phoenix college and women’s teams, giving them something to aspire to as they get older. New Head Coach of the Firebirds, as well as President and goaltender of NJ Phoenix, Lauren Solski, says:

We want the Firebirds to be almost like a Jr. Phoenix team – but with their own identity. This will be a team for develop their hockey skills as well as be a part of a stable family of girls who share the same interest as them: hockey. When I was growing up I had to move from team to team because every program I was a part of folded. I will make sure that never happens to the Firebirds. Not while I’m in charge.

Phoenix will be hosting a summer camp for all girls ages 5-12 in hopes that it will attract interest for the new teams and gain some recognition and support. The camp is July 14-17, 8am-12pm and will provide on and off ice instruction as well as lunch and other activities. Registration for the camp can be found at www.skylandsiceworldnj.com.

As for the Firebirds, they will hold tryouts right before Phoenix holds theirs on June 27th at 3:30pm at Skylands Ice World. There will be two teams: 8u and 12u. Registration can be found at www.njphoenixhockey.com/firebirds
